Avalanche training using a pulse beacon

Mammut has put together a nice simulation and training tool for their Pulse Barryvox beacon ($360-$450)

The Barryvox is a digital beacon with a sensitive motion detection system that can transmit "life signs" to other Pulse beacons. Efficient for fine searches and for multiple-beacon scenarios. Search strip width: 50m.

The search simulation and training tool will help you to understand the different phases involved in a search for avalanche victims.

It provides a broad description of the use of an avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel. You can then practise these techniques during your next training session in the snow. To become completely familiar with these rescue actions, you should practise this training at least twice at the start of the winter season and then regularly throughout the season. Ensuring that all your actions are automatic will allow you to stay in contol of the situation.

Just click on the link on bottom of this website: http://www.mammut.ch/barryvoxtraining and enjoy your training!

You can also download the user manual (Firmware 3.0) and the quick reference for offline use.
